Sports Day 2018-19
ANNUAL SPORTS MEET OF SARASVIS
“The moment of victory is much too short to live for that and nothing else,” said Martina Navratilova, tennis player. Apart from commemorating victories, sports meets also aim at imparting lessons on sportsman spirit and camaraderie to children. Saraswati Vidyalaya High school and Jr. College conducted the much awaited 36 th Annual Sports Meet from 27 th to 29 th November 2018, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere.
The Sports meet commenced on 27 th November 2018 with the Opening
Ceremony. The Chief Guest for the Occasion was our very own Ex-Sarasvi Mr.
Saurabh Bandopadhya , an International Car Racer .Present on this Occasion were
Administrator of the Trust Madam Korde, Principal Mrs. Anita Pinto, Vice-Principal
Mrs. Manju Mishra, Co-ordinator Mrs. Meenakshi Bangera.The ceremony began
with the impressive Inter-House March Past of the Std IXth students, coupled with
some stirring marching music by the band and the adorable Carnival walk by the
Nursery, Jr.Kg, Sr.Kg students , followed by the lighting of the Flame by the District
and State Level Players of our School. The students entered into the spirit of the
occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the Sports Captain.
The arrival of the Mascot filled the environment with energy and enthusiasm, the
mascot for this year’s Sports meet was a “Horse” which signifies Speed, viguor,
strength and royalty. An energizing equestrian display by the students of Std II
and III set the tone for the rest of the event, followed by Telematch of Std Ist
students. The students of std VI and VII presented a rhythmic display on the beats
of the drum with their formation of Lord Ganesha. The highlight of the day was
the Kabbadi Finals between Senior Godavari and Kaveri house , Std XI and XII and
College vs the School team .The winners were Godavari House, Std XI and School
team respectively.
On 28 th Nov 2018 the school students of class 5 to 12 competed in various Athletic
events such as 100mts, 200mts, 400mts and 1500mts race, relays, Long Jump,
Shot put, Javelin throw etc. Once the events began, the air was filled with
cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes.The students of
Junior and Senior House showed their best efforts to win the Tug-of war against
their opponents. The Jr.Kaveri and Sr.Ganga House won the Tug-of war amongst
the four houses.
At the Closing Ceremony of the sports meet on 29 th November 2018. The Chief
Guest for the Programme was The collector of Thane Mr.Rajesh Narvekar. Present
on this Occasion were the members of the Trust , Principal, Vice-Principal , Co-
ordinator and Principal of Ghodbunder school Mr. Dhavle.The Ceremony began
with the Victory March Past, led proudly by the winner Kaveri House. The
students of Std IV & V performed a Display which mesmerized the audience with
their energetic performance, followed by the Mixed shuttle race by Std V students
, students of Std VIII performed some footapping Aerobic moves and showed
their excellent balancing skills with different formations of Pyramids. The senior
students presented a Mallakhamb Demo, a traditional sport wherein gymnast
perform feats and poses which was a treat to the eyes .The most awaited
performance of the day was the Lezim performed by Std X & Jr.college students
which left all spellbound .The Chief Guest in his address lauded the Sports Day
event and stated that it was perfect and that he could gauge the pains and efforts
taken by teachers and students for such flawless presentation. The Principal Mrs
Anita Pinto in her address congratulated the winners and even expected
maximum participation from students as sports play integral part in allround
development of the child. The Chief Guest than gave away medals and trophies to
the sports event winners. The best sports Girl was bagged by Triveni Tripathi and
Best sports Boy was won by Vedant Wadekar. The winner House was Kaveri and
runner up was Godavari House.
The Meet was declared closed by the Chief Guest and the School Flag was handed
over to the Principal, by the school Games Captain. The lit flame was put off with
the Beating of the Retreat. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and
memories to cherish.
